The Tahirih Justice Center was founded in 1997 to address the acute need for legal services of immigrant and refugee women who have fled to the U.S. to seek protection from human rights abuses. Through direct litigation services and public policy advocacy, the Tahirih Justice Center protects women and girls seeking justice in the United States from gender-based violence such as forced female genital mutilation, torture, rape, trafficking, honor crimes, gender apartheid, forced marriage and domestic violence.
