International Lingerie Award for Best Loungewear

Relatively new to the lingerie trade, sheandme shocked industry insiders when its super-soft three-piece modal set won the Best Robes / Loungewear Award at the CILA Gala on August 4, 2008.

LOS ANGELES, CA, August 18, 2008 – Although the line is relatively new to the game, sheandme suddenly rivaled the biggest intimates brands after its surprise win of the coveted Contours International Lingerie Award for Best Robes / Loungewear.

Two friends with a passion for intimate apparel, Shirin Azad and Mitra Sanai, had no experience as designers when they decided to start sheandme (pronounced she and me).  They simply wanted to create the kind of comfy, casual, and chic loungewear they couldnÕt seem to find.

In two short years, the former marketing and sales professional and attorney have developed a loyal fan base of women who love the brandÕs versatile separates with their signature Òsexy comfortÓ.  For example, Devotee Krista Purnell of the Lingerie Post—a blog for self-professed lingerie and underwear fanatics—told her readers Òsheandme should be a staple in every womanÕs wardrobe.Ó

On August 4th, sheandme catapulted into the international spotlight at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York City during the CILA Gala, joining the winnersÕ circle with heavy-hitting lingerie labels (such as bra manufacturers Wacoal and Le Mystere).  The award-winning ensemble consisted of a casual yet elegant shelf-bra camisole and matching cropped pants with silk side tabs and shell button closures, along with a cover wrap robe. As with the rest of sheandmeÕs ÒluxÓ and ÒbasicsÓ lines, the set was constructed using Lenzing Modal¨ (known as the softest fiber in the world with an eco-friendly bonus) and delicate silk charmeuse.

Also taking home a CILA award was Carson Kressley, host of LifetimeÕs How to Look Good Naked, for encouraging women of all shapes and sizes to develop a healthy body image.  Perhaps Intimate Apparel Business magazineÕs 2007 prediction that Òsheandme will find itself in swag bags and celebritiesÕ closets in no timeÓ is coming true.

High-end retailers like Black Satin Intimates in Las Vegas, Orchids in Aspen, and Anthropologie stores nationwide already carry sheandme and are looking forward to previewing the Spring/Summer 2009 collections at the Curve tradeshow (held concurrent with MAGIC, August 25-27 in Las Vegas).  These savvy store owners already know that women everywhere are bound to start buzzing about what Daily Candy recently hyped as a Òcomfy, beautifully cut, and sexy collection of underthings

About the Company:

The sheandme (pronounced she and me) line of intimates initially got its moniker by combining the first syllable of its designersÕ names: Shirin Azad and Mitra Sanai.  The entrepreneurs left corporate America two years ago to design the collection theyÕd been dreaming of: pieces that would be comfortable enough to sleep in, but stylish enough to wear out.

The line of basics they created consists of coordinated tops (camisoles, tanks, tees, and hoodies), bottoms (lounge pants, crop pants, and shorts), sleepwear (nightgowns, chemises, slips, and robes), as well as underwear (bralets, bikini panties, thongs, boy shorts, and bloomers) with flattering, feminine details.

Sara Fishman, owner of the lingerie store Cheeky Fine Lingerie, raved to The Chicago Tribune, Òsheandme is looking to dress the real woman, the career woman, the mother, the everyday kind of person who wants to feel sexy but also feel comfortable."

With an eye toward social responsibility, sheandmeÕs luxurious loungewear is produced entirely in Los Angeles, California and the company sources as much as possible from women-owned U.S. businesses.  In addition, a portion of its profits are donated to the Tahirih Justice Center, a non-profit that helps provide legal services for immigrant and refugee women who have fled human rights abuses.
